Dennis Bush is a successful writer whose plays have been produced in New York and elsewhere around the country. Several of his works are published and available for performance licensing. He is also a noted coach and consultant and is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America
Mr. Bush has extensive performance credits on New York
City stages and in stock productions in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
In addition, he has a broad range of on-camera and voice-over experience. Bush
received his training at the prestigious Circle in the Square Theatre School (at
the Circle in the Square Theatre facility on Broadway) and, concurrently,
received his B.F.A. from New York University.
The Circle in the Square program included intensive training in acting, voice,
speech, dialects, dance, movement, Shakespeare and work on a full gamut of
classic and modern texts and performance styles. Additional course work
included directing, improvisation, scenic and lighting design, make up and wigs,
stage combat, dramaturgy, period movement and general stagecraft. During his
years of study, the Circle in the Square faculty and guest instructors included
Michael Kahn, Nikos Psacharopoulous, Jacqueline Brookes, Therese Hayden,
Elizabeth Parrish, Richard Ericson, Barbara Colton, Stefan Rudnicki, Alan
Langdon, Nikki Harris, Albert Stephenson, B.H. Barry and many others.
Mr. Bush's direction and choreography experience includes drama, comedy and
musical productions in New York City, stock and educational venues. Young
performers who have studied with Bush have been seen on network television
series, commercials, feature films, on and off-Broadway and in regional
productions. Adults who have trained with him have appeared on Broadway, in
network television series, feature films, commercials and in live and on-camera
industrials.
Mr. Bush has been involved in numerous projects as a casting director. For
off-Broadway and regional theaters, he has cast productions of all types and
with performers including Olympia Dukakis, Steven Weber, Jane Kaczmarek, Jasmine
Guy, Alison Fraser and countless others. Casting for on-camera projects has
included television pilots, national and regional commercials and filmed and
videotaped industrials for an extensive list of clients and products.
In 1984, Mr. Bush produced "Genesis" off-Broadway. He served as production
coordinator for the pre-Broadway incarnation of "Wind in the Willows: The New
Musical." He has worked in the Shubert Archive (a component of the Shubert
Organization) and has served on the boards of many theatre organizations.
In addition, Mr. Bush has conducted group seminars on effective verbal
communication skills and public speaking and done individual coaching and
consultations for corporate executives, staff members of non-profit
organizations, television news and entertainment personalities, attorneys,
athletes and a variety of other clients.
